Fillings

At East Fork Family Dentistry, we offer natural-looking, durable tooth-colored fillings to restore your teeth without compromising your smile. Whether you’re dealing with a cavity or replacing older metal fillings, our composite fillings blend seamlessly with your natural tooth color—so no one has to know you’ve had work done.

When Do You Need a Filling?

Fillings are commonly used to treat minor to moderate tooth decay before it progresses into something more serious, like a root canal. If you’re experiencing tooth sensitivity, pain when biting, or visible dark spots on your teeth, it may be time to schedule an exam. Early treatment can prevent bigger problems and save your tooth from further damage.

What Are The Different Kinds of Fillings?

  • Composite fillings - These tooth-colored fillings use a blend of resin and glass particles that bond directly to your tooth. They require less removal of healthy tooth structure, provide excellent aesthetics, and work well for small- to mid-size cavities that don't experience heavy chewing pressure.
  • Ionomers - Made from glass and acrylic materials, these tooth-colored fillings release fluoride to help prevent future decay. They're ideal for root surface cavities and patients at high risk for decay. However, they're best suited for areas with lighter chewing pressure.
  • Porcelain (ceramic) fillings - These premium restorations offer the most natural appearance with translucency that mimics real enamel. They're highly durable and stain-resistant, but require multiple visits and are best for areas where they can be properly bonded and supported.

Our Approach to Restorative Care

We prioritize comfort and precision in every procedure. Using digital imaging and gentle techniques, we remove only the decayed portion of your tooth, preserving as much healthy structure as possible. Our composite fillings are applied layer by layer and cured with a special light, ensuring a snug fit and lasting strength.
